ITS Midwest Awards Program
The ITS Midwest Awards Program was initiated in 2005 in recognition of the many activities occurring in our states that warrant a special honor. The ITS Midwest Awards Program highlights the major accomplishments our public and private sector members have made over the past year. It has also established a Scholarship to recognize students with a strong interest in Intelligent Transportation Systems to improve safety and efficiency.
ITS Project of the Year
Each year one or more ITS projects are chosen to receive the ITS Midwest Project of the Year Award.

ITS Project of the Year Award & ITS Agency of the Year Award
Each year one or more ITS projects are chosen to receive the ITS Midwest Project of the Year Award. The Project of the Year Award is based on merit and significance of the project to the ITS Community. The ITS Midwest Recognition Committee reviews all nominated projects. The Board then approves the Recognition Committee's recommendation for the year’s awards. Winners are confirmed by ITS Midwest Board of Directors, excluding nominators and representatives of nominated organizations. Winners are honored at the ITS Midwest Conference & Expo.
Since 2024, ITS Midwest has also launched the ITS Agency of the Year Award, recognizing a public agency that demonstrates exceptional leadership, innovation, and measurable impact in advancing intelligent transportation systems across the region. The award highlights agencies that champion collaboration, data‑driven decision‑making, and meaningful improvements to safety and mobility.
ITS Midwest typically issues a call for nominations for both awards when online registration for the ITS Midwest Conference & Expo opens. Find the call for nominations and all related information on eligibility and how to nominate a project and/or agency for the awards by going to the Annual Conference & Expo listing and clicking on the event title under "Upcoming Conference & Expo".

Gordon Paesani ITS Midwest Scholarship
Starting in 2019, ITS Midwest has established the Gordon Paesani ITS Midwest Scholarship to honor the memory of Gordon Paesani, ITS pioneer and mentor.
